The Musical opens with John Adams stating how useless the Congress is against going against King George's Acts. The Congress retaliates by singing SIT DOWN JOHN. John then storms out of Independence Hall and starts to rant about the Congress not being able to do anything and not doing anything at all in Piddle, Twiddle and Resolve. Then, John's wife, Abigail, speaks to him in his imagination telling him to back to her; she is currently on their farm with their sick children. John asked Abigail if she had made saltpeter for gun power, but Abigail says that she didn't, still waiting for pins.
